Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and I share the same dream: to work in New York. She fulfilled his dream before me, since fifteen years ago she landed in that city with a large store in Soho, headquarters that then moved to Tribeca, 466 of Greenwich Street where I joined work, thus fulfilling my dream. Of this it has been already three years.

Some time ago, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada decided that have stores out of Spain was more important than present their collections in international shows. Therefore, without letting them apart, she was opening stores in the most influential fashion cities: Paris, Milan and New York which joined to the Spanish ones.

The store of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada in NY is the privileged vantage point from which I note the changes that fashion lives and the ways that open toward an uncertain future. I see as blows the old system with those who are not able to jump overboard and swim toward the unknown.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada always jumped without network. She has been brought forward to think that it was also important to the presence in the parades of the end customer in the markets where the brand is present and not only of the media and of large buyers.

I remember when she began to travel around the world presenting her collections in Paris and Milan, to continue to do so in Mexico, Croatia, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Nigeria, Peru, Russia, Uruguay, Pakistan… Today, with its more than 40 products, in addition to the textile, the fashion company reaches all corners of the world.

Fashion is not only in the trends that the great distribution offers us but that is both a way of living and build a personality. The world that offers us Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, with some designs in the prevailing creativity and freedom, makes her connect to New York where the mixture of cultures, ethnicities and languages built a common culture based on respect and differences. New Yorkers build their image without fear of stereotypes.

In this way, it was also understood by two symbols of our Galicia long time ago: Maruxa and Coralia known in Santiago as “Las Dos en Punto” (Two o´clock walkers). There were two free being humans that retreated to the fashion to construct a joyful image that saved her from the madness due to the loss of nearly all their property. Hence, this way of living reported to them the recognition, affection and respect of society. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada takes more than thirty years delighting us the life.

Agatha, with its joyful, colorful, comfortable and affordable fashion, allows us to dress to live in the present in which more than ever we must enlist the creativity.

After a decade directing the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain, Lucía Cordeiro has been the Director of the fashion company "Agatha Ruiz de la Prada" in New York since 2013.
